“Whatever makes the sounds, that’s almost irrelevant to me,” said Chris Cornell as he dropped by Last Call with Carson Daly yesterday (March 24). “The music is kind of what’s important.” The former Soundgarden singer’s dalliance with electronic music hasn’t exactly gone down well, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him return to a more guitar oriented sound after he’s finished promoting his Timbaland-produced Scream album.
Cornell discusses how he hooked up with Timbaland and performs “ Long Gone” and “Scream” from the album. Even Daly says he found it “jarring” to hear Cornell’s new direction, although he quickly tempers that by meekly adding that “it grows on you.” The singer reassures Daly that songs from throughout his career will feature on his forthcoming tour, which might just be enough to persuade turned-off fans to return to the fold.

what is your guys boner for Conrnell? does your primarily hip hop and indie rock readership really give a crap about what this irrelevant alt rock has been is up to? is someone on staff just real real into him? honestly man who cares? leave that kind of coverage to Rolling Stone.
