!!!: "AM/FM"
There is nothing all that surprising about the newly released track from !!!'s upcoming album Strange Weather, Isn't It?. The elastic basslines, woozy keyboard textures, and Nic Offer's slightly taunting singing style are all intact. With this band, it's all about the execution, and "AM/FM" is the smoothest they've sounded yet. Some of the manic energy of past material is sucked out of this one, allowing much more emphasis on the band's dance elements. It's a triumphant return for the band, who weathered several lineup changes and hardships since 2007's Myth Takes, including the tragic death of former drummer Jerry Fuchs in late 2009.
Strange Weather, Isn't It? will be released by Warp on August 24th.
