Chairlift

"Bruises" (Live on Craig Ferguson) (Video)

Given the amount of times I saw their damn iPod Nano commercial, I'm sorta surprised that it's taken this long for Brooklyn's Chairlift to make their U.S. television debut. The band took to Craig Ferguson's show last night to perform the song from the iPod commercial, "Bruises," which is on the recently re-released Does You Inspire You? The band have clearly been hitting the festival circuit, because their a pretty well-oiled machine live, and this performance actually has a tad bit of theatricality.

As a sidebar, I love when Craig Ferguson introduces bands, because he could make even a Norwegian death metal band seem like a joke. He's always so unimpressed, and sort of laugs at his guests, which you'll never see Jay Leno or Jimmy Fallon do.

The last ten years have been pretty bad for music -- the worst decade in modern rock history -- but this song is really good. It reminds me of new love in the summer time, and her voice makes my heart melt every time I hear it. They deserve lots of praise.

Whaa? Been an awesome last 10. In addition to Chairlift we've had new music from Interpol. Modest Mouse. The Shins. Silversun Pickups. The Knife. Coldwar Kids. The Ting Tings. Kings of Leon. MGMT. M.I.A. Franz Ferdinand. The Killers. The Faint. Radiohead and so on.... Access to new music has never been better.
