I Was a Cat from a Book is a great album title, and it’s one James Yorkston is using when he returns in August with his first LP in three years. The folk-y Scottish singer has issued “Catch” as a preview of his new record, which is the kind of finely-spun tale we’ve come to expect from Yorkston over his decade-long career to date. Last time we heard from him, on 2009’s Folk Songs, he was dipping into traditional songs with the Big Eyes Family Players, but Yorkston is back working under his own steam here, and “Catch” bodes well for that upcoming album.
