The title of this track isn't an assurance, it's a label. Cass McCombs croons and strums to his "Dreams Come True Girl" with a depth that teenagers are capable of, without the heavy-handed insecurity of youth. The video for this track, however, is a different story. It's not batshit crazy, but the fact that it seems so regular makes it even more bizarre. McCombs surrounded by adolescent skateboarders, with sometimes singer Karen Black traipsing around in the background like a frightening, dark-haired Stevie Nicks. It's surprising how they managed to craft such an unnerving video for such a nice song.
Cass McCombs' Catacombs is out July 7 in the U.S. on Domino Records.
