You can only be an indie mariachi band for so long. The Tuscon-based Calexico has album coming in September with the Chicago-based Touch and Go/Quarterstick label, and a preview video posted on the T & G website has more than a few allusions to the label's hometown despite being based in Tuscon. The ~1 minute of music and live performance sounds a lot more like Calexico's Iron & Wine inspired material. It's quite possible the band has made a full transition to the soft indie rock sphere.
