“Bye Baby” (Video)

Although Nas‘ new album, Life Is Good, promised a return of real, honest hip-hop to a major platform — and, dare I say, a contender to match his ’94 classic, Illmatic, as the prize piece in his catalog — God’s Son’s 10th LP delivered a number of stellar R&B jams. The closer, “Bye Baby,” undoubtedly belongs in that mix, and today, the track duly receives the visual makeover.

The clip sees Nas project his deeply personal narrative of his failed marriage with Kelis to the digital screen, with director Aristotle cleverly utilizing dark blue shots to enunciate the song’s solemn mood.
