Three years ago, a trio of percussionists led by John McEntire, of Tortoise and many other groups, got together to create an instrumental, beat-driven hip-hop record. Their end result was a self-titled album, Bumps, that was recognized and eventually released by Stones Throw. With the avante-hip-hop label behind them, the trio linked with Detroit MC Guilty Simpson for a potential single called "Drums" that is only now seeing the light of day. It's a shame this wasn't never pushed as a single as it's pretty damn good and features a (of course) crazy beat. It's accompanied by an equally interesting remix from Koushik, who incorporates strings and other sounds to make the track more than just "Drums."
