The Boss is releasing a deluxe edition of Darkness at the Edge of Town, which includes a bunch of rarities that were written when he was prohibited from releasing an album due to managerial spats. "The Promise" is the title track of the rarities section, and its video is above; it features the Boss and the E Street Band on some Dylan-esque workingman blues that stretches out to epic length. I'm not that big a fan, but it's undeniable that this guy had his finger on the pulse of the average dude in the '70s.
