Broken Social Scene: "Love Will Tear Us Apart" (Joy Division Cover) (Stream)

Back in March it was announced that Broken Social Scene would be appearing as a wedding band in the new Rachel McAdams/Eric Bana sob-fest The Time-Traveler's Wife, and would be covering Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart." Well, Pitchfork has the stream of BSS's cover, and it's not exactly what I had in mind when I heard the news: It's a slow, piano-driven cover, that mostly just has the same billowing synths during the chorus and the same lyrics as the original. I suppose that this is the only way to do the cover without garnering negative comparisons to the original. To hear the song, go here.
