How many times do you think David Letterman has introduced a band on his show by saying they are “acclaimed”? I’m guessing a ballpark figure of around 800-900 times, but it’s probably more than that. Broken Social Scene were bestowed that honor last night (April 22), when they appeared to promote their Forgiveness Rock Record album.
Post rock overlord John McEntire produced the record, but his influence is barely felt if this performance is an indication of the direction of the album—“Forced to Love” is an upbeat, faintly unremarkable track with various guitar oriented peaks and troughs. Perhaps they should have attempted a cover of Tortoise’s epic 20-minute long “Djed” from Millions Now Living Will Never Die instead? That certainly would have garnered some of Letterman's acclaim.
Is this the most people Letterman has ever had perform?
anybody else a bit disappointed in this album?
This song didn't really do it for me.
Dipseth- I've always preferred the New Pornos, so no.
I love the new album. A lot. Beats the self titled by some distance IMO. I will say that this performance captures none of the fury of the song or the record. This is pretty tame. There's like fifteen cats onstage! This should be a massacre! Think the bro doing the Temptations routine ruined it for me.
This sounds like Kenny Loggins!
