Broken Bells: "Vaporize"
"The High Road," the first song from Broken Bells' (the team-up of Danger Mouse and James Mercer) album to see release sounded like the Shins meets a drum machine. The latest track to see release, "Vaporize," just removes the drum machine and add some horn on the outro. Seriously, if the idea was for Mercer to separate himself from the Shins, consider this project a failure (not musically though, since this is still pretty pleasant in an unassuming way). This is like when Danger Mouse produced the Black Keys' Attack and Release and made them sound just slightly different. Go here to hear "Vaporize."
Broken Bells' self-titled debut is due out on March 9 via Columbia.
