The rehabilitation of Britney Spears continues this week with the release of her Femme Fatale album, which is gaining favorable notice for its sleek 21st century pop aesthetic. She performed one of the standout tracks (and its second single) “Till the World Ends” on Jimmy Kimmel’s show last night (March 29). This is a far bigger production than the average late night TV performance, although it’s kind of hard to figure out what’s going on at certain points—why does that mysterious blue rope appear and not get utilized? Still, it’s worth sticking with it to see Britney mount a metal pyramid in the center of the stage while explosions go off all around her and a group of dancers try to beckon her down. You don’t get that at a Drive-By Truckers show.
