Somehow, Brightblack Morning Light’s new album, Motion to Rejoin, is more drone-y and shimmering than their self-titled sophomore album. “Oppressions Each” (the second track to surface from the album) is a lot like album highlight “Hologram Buffalo”: it’s got near-doo wop vocals augmented by watery sonics that seem to bubble up from between pockets of gas in peat moss.
Motion to Rejoin is due out on September 23 via Matador.
