Conor Oberst brought his Bright Eyes to Jay Leno’s show last night (April 14) ahead of their appearance at the Coachella festival this weekend. “Beginner’s Mind” is taken from the recently released The People’s Key record, which is full of the kind of pithy lyrics and inoffensive indie rock strumming that we’ve come to expect from Oberst throughout most of his career. “I missed you,” claims Leno, after welcoming the singer back to the show, in what might be one of the most unconvincing host-guest interchanges on late night TV all year. Unless Leno and Oberst spend all their free time bro-ing down? Seems kinda unlikely.
