Brian Eno: "2 Forms Of Anger" (Streaming)
We've already got the lowdown on the new Brian Eno album, Small Craft On a Milk Sea, which is set for release on Warp on Nov. 2. Now comes a chance to hear what's in store on the record, with the release of this Soundcloud clip for the song "2 Forms Of Anger" (below).
It's a percussion heavy track that initially takes little fragments of processed noise and layers them over the top of those pounding beats. The surprise comes around a third of the way through, when the song takes a distinctly "rock" direction, with un-Eno like blaring guitars dominating the mix. I guess that's what happens when you spend too much time with The Edge.
Also revealed today are exclusive photos from the creation of the Collectors' Edition screen print version of Small Craft On a Milk Sea, which demonstrate how much effort and hands-on application went into this from Eno himself. Clearly the man doesn't believe that packaging is dead in the MP3 era, which is somewhat surprising news from such an avowed tech guru. Head over here to view those pics.
