Brian Eno + David Byrne

Strange Overtones (MP3)

Average Rating: 5.25

It's been nearly over 30 years since we last heard from David Byrne and Brian Eno together -- but now they are back in full force with their upcoming record Everything That Will Happen Will Happen Today. The first single, "Strange Overtones," is classic meets current -- the filtered synthesizers are in place, the funky layered beats are thumping, and the guitars are screaming.

Over the course of 30 years, Eno's main duty has been manning the production position, and the evidence is clear on this recording -- the mix on this track is absolutely stellar and highlights one of the best Byrne vocal performances in years. When these guys get together it's the culmination of two of the world's most consistent and important innovators - "Strange Overtones" is hopefully only the beginning. They'll ask for your e-mail and zip code, but don't fret - it's worth it. [Downloadable MP3 of Strange Overtones" availalable at Everything That Happens]
