Killers frontman Brandon Flowers has a solo album out titled Flamingo, which he promoted on Jay Leno’s show last night (Sept. 13) by performing “Crossfire.” This is a more serious rock direction for Flowers, who appears to be keen to establish himself as an MOR singer away from the pop inclinations of his other band.
Flowers’ vocals are reminiscent of New Radicals singer Gregg Alexander (of “You Get What You Give” fame, see video below) and this is a similarly bland exercise in radio-friendly unit shifting. And, let’s face it, any artist who finds Jay Leno wobbling into view exclaiming “Great song! Great song!” must wonder if it’s time to start over again from scratch.
