Killers singer Brandon Flowers performed “Crossfire” from his Flamingo album on Jay Leno’s show two days ago, and he repeated the trick for Jimmy Kimmel last night (Sept. 14). We ran out of snarky things to say about the track when writing about it yesterday, but fortunately Flowers gave us some more rope to hang him with by also giving us “Magdalena” on Kimmel (below).
The song is an equally insipid blend of plodding rock dullness and Flowers’ whinnying vocals about “the broken heart of Mexico”—imagine an unholy cross between Hothouse Flowers and the Cranberries and you’ve pretty much got it. Of primary interest here is the singer’s outfit, which makes him look like a Swiss tourist desperately trying to fit in with the locals on a visit to the Alps. Oh dear.
