The story behind Boris' upcoming album, the aptly titled New Album, is an interesting one. The always-evolving Japanese rockers found the material for the project from their previous two 2011 releases, Attention Please and Heavy Rocks. And even though those two albums were vastly different -- they were exercises in J-pop and stoner rock, respectively -- drummer Atsuo explained that they were actually meant to be one complete record.
As such, moving forward Boris wanted to revisit those songs to put them in an entirely different context with some new material. That brings us to New Album, which you can get a preview of now by checking out "Flare" at Rolling Stone. Be forewarned fans of Boris' heavier/sludgier stuff: you might be surprised. New Album is due out Nov. 25 on Sargent House.
