Will Oldham performs a taster from the forthcoming Bonnie "Prince" Billy album live on WNYC's Soundcheck along with older Palace track "The Brute Choir" during an entertaining interview which is well worth the listen.
"You Can't Hurt Me Now" sets the tone for the ominously titled album, Beware, which Oldham explains is intended as a caveat to the listener, following last year's more accessible invitation to Lie Down in the Light. Bonnie "Prince" Billy is back on caustic, foreboding form with a touch of tongue-in-cheek to lighten up the mood. [YANP]
Sounds good. There was a great New Yorker feature on BPB recently.
they mention it in the interview- i'll have to look it up.
It's definitely worth reading.
This guy is always good.
The interview/performance is brilliant. Will Oldham truly is one of the few contemporary song-crafters that can compete with Neil Young, Leonard Cohen and early Bob Dylan. Oldham and Jason Molina.
