"Beware Your Only Friend" (Track Review)

YANP posted "Beware Your Only Friend," the lead track from Bonnie "Prince" Billy's forthcoming album, Beware. The song bears a more expansive sound than recent BPB offerings (i.e. all of last year's Lie Down in the Light) -- lap steel, fiddle, hand percussion, and, most prominently, a gospel-like chorus of female singers bolster the bleary vocal melody and simple, summery strums. Will Oldham referred to Beware as "the big record" in a recent New Yorker interview, which seems, at first glance, like an appropriate distinction, and one fit for this time of seasonal renewal. sounds excellent- really looking forward to the album and the tour.

Sigh, I didn't get to hear it before they took down the mp3.
