Well, this will just make you feel awful. To promote their new 10-inch single, Bonnie "Prince" Billy and The Cairo Gang released this video for B-side "New Wonder," which is one of the most depressing things I've seen all week. The tender and moving scenes from a child's funeral are shot on a grainy camera with occasional pauses, and cut in with clips of Will Oldham and crew. It's pretty heart-rending.
Proceeds from the single will go to EDGE OUTREACH, an organization aiming to bring water to people in Haiti, a country still suffering from a cholera outbreak and rampant homelessness after the 2010 earthquake. So feel bad about the world, why don't you.
The "Island Brothers" 10-inch is out February 22 on Drag City.
