Bon Iver main man Justin Vernon's reported set with Eau Claire Memorial's Jazz Ensemble (aka his high school's band) went down last night, and in addition to performing the songs of Duke Ellington, the Jazz Ensemble backed Vernon up on a few Bon Iver tracks, including "Lump Sum," from his excellent For Emma, Forever Ago. The high schoolers do a more than competent job backing Vernon up, and that marimba player is never going to have a more high profile part than his solos coming out of the choruses. And whoever plays flute totally wails near the 2:30 mark. [Culture Bully]
