Bodies of Water: "I Don't Believe In The Sun" (Magnetic Fields Cover)
When it comes to covers, the Magnetic Fields have always been a popular choice. Something about Stephen Merritt's songwriting has inspired artists as diverse as !!!, Peter Gabriel and the Divine Comedy to try their hand at re-imagining Merritt's perfectly crafted lo-fi electro-pop.
Now L.A.'s Bodies of Water can be added to the list. Their take on Merritt's "I Don't Believe In the Sun" remains faithful to the exaggeratedly maudlin original, only swapping Merritt's deep baritone for Meredith Metcalf's charming vocals. Check it out over at Gorilla vs. Bear.
