I sort of understood why Kanye West and Jay-Z wanted Chris Martin crooning on their tracks. And sampling Coldplay on a mixtape is fine, though the tracks typically all end up sounding the same. You know, those semi-introspective joints that are used as a means of balancing subject matter. As such, it's good to know that "Not Lost" will not be appearing on B.o.B's upcoming The Adventures of Bobby Ray LP. It's not a bad track, really, and T.I. fits right in with the mood. Hell, this would have been nice on B.o.B's May 25th mixtape. But on its own the track just feels, well, kind of cheap.
You can listen to "Not Lost" at 2DopeBoyz.
How is it cheap? They're not even trying to sell it. For musicians to be in conversation with others' work and respond in a way that is genuine to their own style is beyond legit, it's essential to the creative process. So just say, "Thanks for sharing!"
Cheap in the sense that, in my opinion, the track was kind of boring/dull, that's all.
Cheap and dull are pretty different. Anyway, TI's getting warmed up at least, let's look forward to some story-telling Behind Bars kind of sht.
Yeah, I know what you mean...but I'm also kind of sick of people sampling Coldplay. I am also definitely looking forward to T.I.'s new stuff, though.
