Another mixtape dropped from Sicklanta today. Bobby Ray, or the ATLien formerly known as B.o.B., released this mix with the help of DJ Green Lantern and DJ Don Cannon. He told Creative Loafing that he changed his name from B.o.B.— which could stand for “bring one blunt” or “bring one beer”—because, "I didn't like what B.o.B. represented. I just wanted to go by my real name." Previous mixtapes include Hi! My Name is B.o.B., Future and Who the Fuck is B.o.B.? The 20-year-old protégée has a debut album, The Adventures of Bobby Ray, due out this year on T.I.’s label, Grand Hustle.
Bobby Ray's connection to DJ Green Lantern could have to do with Eminem, who co-signed the rapper. DJ Green Lantern did Eminem’s Invasion mixtape series back when. He also did some high-profile mixtapes last year, including one for Nas and the Barak Obama: Yes We Can mixtape. MTV named him 2008’s Mixtape and Radio DJ of the year.
DJ Don Cannon is also from Atlanta, where he has worked with Lil Jon, Young Jeezy, Ludacris, The Cool Kids and 50 Cent. He also worked on the Gangsta Grillz mixtapes. (We posted Soulja Boy's June 12.)
This mix features T.I., Killer Mike, Bun B, OJ Da Juiceman and Playboy Tre. [Download]
