Blu: "D o o w h o p" F. Planet Asia & Killa Ben
As we reported on Monday, Blu officially released his J e s u s project digitally yesterday while a vinyl version is set to drop in late August. And according to the rapper-producer, he wants everyone to listen to the album on vinyl as he feels it was created specifically for the medium. That sounds right to me, especially after hearing its latest single, "d o o w h o p" -- yes, that's the way Blu stylized the track titles. Anyway, the song is appropriately dusty and lo-fi, almost to the point that you think the Alchemist didn't even clean off his records before finding the sample and break on here. While some might complain that the sound quality is too poor, just try to remember that this is the way Blu wanted it. And you know what, I wouldn't have it any other way. If he wants to create his own lo-fi experiment and he's able to pull it off this well, he can do whatever he wants.
