Bloc Party

Trojan Horse (Audio)

Average Rating: 7.00

When it was announced yesterday that Bloc Party’s third album, Intimacy, would be out this Thursday, it was said that the album bridges the gap between classic Bloc Party jams like “Helicopter” and “Banquet,” and the band’s more experimental side. I’m not sure which category “Trojan Horse,” the newest song to surface from the album (streaming here), fits in—it’s a twitchy, danceable jam that could be construed as a new “Helicopter,” while its electronic sketches could make it “experimental.”

“Experimental” could also mean ear-lacerating sonics mixed with Gregorian chants, but its likely Bloc Party haven’t gone that far from New-Wave.

Anyway, that’ll all be solved on Thursday when Intimacy becomes available for download (here). It will hit stores in CD form on October 27 in the U.K. and October 28 in the U.S.

I'm liking this album more than their last effort already.
