I gotta admit, the first time I heard Bloc Party’s new single, “Mercury,” (out today digitally) a month ago, I wasn’t feeling it. But since then, it’s grown on me—I like that it’s more immediate and danceable than anything on the dreadful A Weekend in the City.
The electro-clashers in CSS have remixed the track (appearing here as the soundtrack for someone’s Audiosurf game) and it sounds even better. The bass is heavier, the song faster, the vocals somehow more howl-y.
“Mercury” is only available digitally stateside, but our British readers can pick up the single as a CD, a 7,” a 12,” a special edition disc set, or even by telegraph (just kidding). [Stereogum]
