Black Thought: 'The J.Period Live Mixtape (Illadelph Edition)' (Mixtape)
A few weeks ago, I posted some live footage of Black Thought and J.Period's set at Manifesto 2010 in Toronto. It featured the Roots MC tackling verses from hip-hop's most legendary performers, from Rakim through GURU. And rather than merely spit them, Black Thought impersonated each rapper almost perfectly -- you know, like he did on "Boom!" off The Tipping Point. Well, the DJ and rapper's set caught so much attention that J.Period threw together the 30-minute The J.Period Live Mixtape (Illadelph Edition). It features Black Thought covering the classics, spitting new verses, and tackling some of the Roots' best tracks.
