They may have shed original member Nick Jago, but Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are still hanging in there, and even bagged a slot on Jimmy Fallon’s show on Friday (April 9) to promote current album Beat the Devil’s Tattoo. Sadly, no Roots collaboration was forthcoming, which would have been one of the most bizarre match-ups in the brief history of the show.
Instead, we get this perfunctory rock number from the group, which shows how those Jesus & Mary Chain/Velvet Underground comparisons aren’t going to go away any time soon. Hey, at least they’re consistent, right? BRMC has been plowing this lonely furrow for over a decade now, and will likely be going long after similarly influenced whippersnappers like Crystal Stilts have returned to tending down-at-heel bars in Brooklyn.
