If you thought auto-tuners were bad, wait till you hear the opening bars on Black Milk’s “Give the Drummer Some”—he raps with the help of some undetermined studio tool that makes his vocals sound like he sucked down a bunch of helium. Given that the drummer gets a shout out in the track’s title, the drums are kind of reserved, and don’t dominate the track as much as the horns. This video for the song is pretty simple—just Black Milk in front of his band and on a white background that occasionally explodes in color—but is pretty entertaining.
“Give the Drummer Some” is on Black Milk’s Tronic, which is out now via Fat Beats. [Pitchfork]
