Bjork

SNL Spoof (Video)

Lost among much of the Grammys hype this weekend was a rather shocking development that occurred Saturday night: an actually funny music spoof on SNL! Covering the Icelandic economic crisis, Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update turned to the only person from Iceland well known in American society: Bjork. Kristen Wiig actually does a pretty hilarious job both making fun of Bjork as well as American stereotypes of Iceland. I'm pretty sure Iceland's loss of scortch and flirp is as big a tragedy of the economic crisis as anything.

Lest you think the emphasis on Bjork is spurious, there's actually some truth behind the ethnic stereotyping. Last month, it was reported that Bjork is trying to save Iceland's economy with a venture capital fund starting at 100 million-krona (just over $800,000). The money has been slated to go to green technology businesses, rather than aluminum smelters. Beats giving money to the Screaming economy, I suppose.

You are correct, sir! So glad someone else remembers that skit, b/c I immediately thought of it when I watched this one.
Say what you like about Wynona Ryder, but she did a mean, just post-Dancer in the Dark Bjork.

There was also the TV Funhouse skit that made fun of her Swan costume at the Oscars.
