Bilal: "Levels" (Video)
Well, it looks like I'm doubling-down on the coverage of Bilal's latest release, the Levels EP, that features the original track, instrumental, and remixes by Sonnymoon and Flying Lotus. And while FlyLo might have provided his own take on the track, here he is making his directorial debut with the visuals for "Levels." He rounded up some of Bilal's buddies, including Erykah Badu, Thundercat, and the song's co-producer Shafiq Husayn.
If the trippy, intergalactic visuals aren't familiar, they should be. FlyLo wanted to maintain the theme created in his video for Cosmogramma's "MmmHmm," which also featured Thundercat. The producer-turned-director said, "I thought it could be fun to continue the visual style and feel of this space opera. In the end you have this crazy video made of so much mixed media, geek dreams and lots of love.”
Well put, FlyLo. Well put.
