Bilal, Daedelus, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson: "Tainted Love" (Video)

Chances are you instantly think of Soft Cell when you see the track title "Tainted Love." Hell, I know I do, but a little research shows it was originally recorded by Gloria Jones in 1964 as a B-side. The track was a commercial flop, though, and met the same fate when she re-recorded it 12 years later. The same obviously doesn't go for Soft Cell's ubiquitous take on "Tainted Love." And here we have yet another cover of the track, this time during a jam session between Bilal, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson's Bomb Shelter, and Daedelus. It's apparently a completely improvised take, which is rather surprising considering how damn good it sounds. But it's that improvisation that allows the cover to flow naturally and not just stick to the super-'80s-sounding Soft Cell version.

You can watch the cover of "Tainted Love" over at VTech.
