Did Beyonce just make the best music video of 2011? Popjustice seems to think so, and he may have a point—this is big budget extravagance, full of preposterous costumes and ridiculously over the top dance routines. In other words, just about everything you could want from a star of her stature. The clip debuted on American Idol and was directed by David Lawrence, who helmed the video for Lady Gaga’s “Judas.” It fits into that post-apocalypse/Mad Max-style video making that’s very in right now (see also: Britney’s “Til the World Ends”) and there’s even a censored part where Beyonce appears to be giving us the finger. Hopefully some of the Idol contestants were taking note at that point.
