It's the only music story that "matters" today, pretty much: Beyonce has a new single out, and it's called "Girls (Who Run the World)," and it's about to be playing at loud volumes in every club in about 3...2...1.... But you're too cool for Beyonce, so you're going to act like you hate this before you hear it, but here's a reason to at least give it a shot: Diplo and Switch, the producers behind most of the M.I.A. songs you care about, produce this, as the song samples Major Lazer's "Pon De Floor." Apparently Beyonce really wants to be a dancehall artist. Fair enough, I guess. Though that makes her Rihanna in 2004. But seriously, how many "girl power" songs can Beyonce squeeze out? By my count this is her 4573rd. If you haven't realized women are powerful via a Beyonce song, you'll never learn.
Beyonce's new album is due out later this summer.
