“Best Thing I Never Had”

Let’s admit it, pop megastar Beyonce’s best songs have always been the most energetic. From “Single Ladies” to “Crazy in Love.” Hell, even Destiny’s Child’s best tracks were songs like “Say My Name” and “Jumpin’ Jumpin’.” It looks like Lady Jigga’s new album 4 is going to follow in those same footsteps. The militant explosion of “Run the World (Girls)” is far and away better than the ballad Beyonce debuted on American Idol. And the album’s newest single, titled “Best Thing I Never Had,” doesn’t surpas “Girls” either. It’s closer, with a dramatic piano line courtesy of Symbolyc One, who helped produce the iconic “Power” off of Kanye West’s MBDTF, and Beyonce straight knocking her vocal out the park, but it lacks a little bit of depth, mining the same territory as “Irreplaceable” without the same aplomb. Still, it’s definitely worth a few listens. Check it out below. [RapUp]
