Holy crap, it's been over a freaking year since we last heard from atmospheric folkster Tom Meluch a.k.a. Benoit Pioulard around these parts, in the form of the track "A Woolgatherer's Exodus." Well, dude just dropped a new album, titled Lasted, through Kranky, so he went ahead and threw down a single and music video to go along with it. "A Coin On the Tongue" is Lasted's penultimate track, a gentle ballad of acoustic guitars and freezer burned drums. The overdubs here spiral around Meluch's voice delicately, adding depth and warmth to the song's peaceful atmosphere. It perfectly soundtracks the video, directed by Daniel Algarin, which appears to be the most benign prison escape ever. [Pitchfork]
