Beirut: La Llorona (Video)

· by

I knew that those seven years I spent in Spanish class dreaming about Churros would pay off eventually-- thanks to Senora Wisnefski, I can tell you the title of this new Beirut single translates to "the crying woman." "La Llorona," as it's title makes clear, is more Spanish-leaning than any of Beirut's past work, featuring prominent mariachi horns. That would be thanks to the 19-piece Jimenez Band who helped Condon cut his upcoming EP, March of the Zapotec

Zapotec will be bundled together with another Beirut EP, Holland, due out on February 17. [Stereogum]

the video doesn't do much for me, but the song is pretty snazzy.

Songs cool. Videos ok. I was waiting for a tie in to the urban legend of La Llorona.....dang.

LOST ANGEL

This band is out of this world. They are inspired and inspiring...and... every thing is so...simple...fantastic the are taking us back to the basics... to the origins of popular (folk)music...remember what pop means?... this is it, in the best sense: World POP. FANTASTIC.
