Beirut made their national television debut on Letterman on Friday, playing the nearly year and half-old Flying Club Cup's "A Sunday Smile," and I think they got one of the better intros from Letterman in quite a while--he pimps their new EP, March of the Zapotec, their contribution to the Dark Was The Night album, and tosses in an incredibly random joke saying that as a limited time offer, if you purchase both of them, you get a Regis Philbin Christmas album. It makes no sense in accordance with the band, but at least Beirut got to start up right after a joke.
Beirut frontman Zach Condon looks rather nervious during the song (especially at the end when interacting with Letterman), but the band's performance was a good representation of Beirut for the uninitiated. [Pitchfork]

Good Lord, that was beautiful. One of my favorite tracks off of Flying Club Cup. So bitter sweet and vivid and lovely and OTHER GOOD ADJECTIVES.
