Beck's cover of the Velvet Underground's "European Son" isn't the nightmare I assumed it would be: Beck and friends avoid the noise-freakout at the end of the original (which any band covering the Velvet Underground should do), instead delivering a mellow take on the song's first half. If you've been keeping the count straight, this is the last Velvet Underground cover, and Beck promises that the next Record Club, featuring MGMT, Devendra Banhart, Little Joy and Wolfmother, starts next week. What a random assemblage of people. Any guesses on what album they'll cover? Hopefully it's Efil4zaggin.
They seem to have gotten the hang of this album, finally.
Yeah, I was thinking that too. It seems like they finally figured out what direction to go, and then it's over.
