For some reason, Beck's Record Club was silent last week, halting their full-length cover of Skip Spence's Oar a few tracks before completion. It picks back up today, with Beck, Wilco, Jamie Lidell and Jeff Tweedy's kid on drums, covering "Dixie Beach Promenade"in a sparse, percussion and electronics-led rendition. This sounds more like the work Beck's Club did on Leonard Cohen's album, but given the high-hit ratio for Oar thus far, a rare misstep is acceptable.
They've only got two more tracks to go.
Excellent version of this song.
We're getting near the end of the original album -- two more to go. I wonder if Beck ends it there or continues on to the 10 other tracks that were subsequently tacked on.
Yeah, I was wondering myself. I noticed that on the wikipedia page for the album it looks like tracks were added to it with each reissue.
