Beastie Boys: "So What'cha Want" (Live on Fallon) (Video)

The Beastie Boys have a new album due later this year, titled Hot Sauce Committee. No release date has been set for the record, but the Boys showed up on Jimmy Fallon’s talk show last night (May 25), where they spoke to the host and promoted the reissue of their seminal 1992 album, Check Your Head.

They joined forces with the Roots to perform "So What'cha Want," which still sounds like one of the best songs in their canon. To compare and contrast the performance, take a look at the clip below, which is taken from the Arsenio Hall Show back when the album was originally released, and features a guest appearance from Cypress Hill.

it's great that they're still doing music ... it's great that they're all mature and everything ... but maybe the energy level needs to be cranked up if they're performing the older songs ... hopefully the shows they're doing this year in real venues (as opposed to tv studios) will be a bit more dynamic ...

This is my favorite Beastie Boys track. I dug it.

i thought this sounded AMAZING with the roots playing the samples LIVE. holy crap. i'd love to see a whole show like this!

yeah, the live band part is definitely cool ... i just feel like the 3 of them didn't look as into it as they usually do, a little on the subdued side. but hopefully they will do more stuff with live bands -- roots would be awesome if they weren't otherwise booked ...

Perfect song to do a live band with. Beastie Boys, please perform more songs with The Roots, okay? Yours truly.

A Beastie Boys/Roots tour collaboration would be amazing. Although I doubt the latter could manage it with their current Fallon schedule.
