The new track from Beach Fossils' upcoming What A Pleasure EP, "Calyer," continues in the vein perfected on their laconic, jangling debut. The trebly, interlocking lead guitars and lazily delivered vocals would have fit in easily amid the haze of their self-titled full length. The twist here is the propulsive bass, its urgency an interesting counterpoint to Dustin Payseur's languid vocals. Like the material on so many EPs these days, it's not the kind of song that merits a "must listen" if you're not already stoked on the band, but it's nonetheless a worthwhile addition to the Beach Fossils canon.
