If I had to vote on track of the year so far in 2008, I'd have a hard time convincing myself not to choose "Becky" by the soon to be no more Be Your Own Pet. Almost as if to offer some condolences to their fans, Be Your Own Pet has come out with their final music video for the aforementioned track. While "Becky" was supposed to be released on the band's sophomore LP Get Awkward, the track and two others were deemed too hot for Universal. XL, the band's European imprint, released the banned tracks in the U.S. on the Get Damaged EP.
As for the video, it starts out seeming like it will just be mostly be the band performing the song on a movie screen with aggravated moviegoers. Then it becomes clear what's going on, and—well, it becomes obvious that Be Your Own Pet has seen The Black Dahlia. It's certainly a chiling last image for the band, and we look forward to its members' post BYOP projects.

I love this song and I'd just like to reiterate that those BYOP kids are effing stupid.
