“Be A Man” F. Tobacco

Serengeti has already made his name as one-half of Chicago rap duo Serengeti & Polyphonic, as well as one-third of the Sufjan-Stevens-featuring trio S/S/S. Now he’s back to releasing solo music again, and for a good cause.

The Georgia label Graveface is setting up a Charity Subscription Series for 2012 which sees a whole range of artists (Mike Watt, Mount Eerie, Xiu Xiu) releasing rare 7-inches to benefit various in-need organizations.

First up is Serengeti’s contribution “Be A Man,” which boasts a cameo from Tobacco of Black Moth Super Rainbow. The track is a heady slice of jagged hip-hop, and it raises money for RBI: Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities. The single will be availble in stores on August 28, and Graveface is taking pre-orders.
