Matias Aguayo and Battles were both at the Glastonbury Festival in England this past weekend, so they convened for a live performance of the standout Gloss Drop track “Ice Cream.” This performance is a great was to experience the pure visceral energy of the band at its peak—John Stanier looks like he’s giving absolutely everything to this performance, which is a big part of why Battles are such an attractive live draw. They’re an unlikely festival band, but the crowd seems to succumb to the irresistible groove of “Ice Cream” here, and it’s clear that this kind of performance is going to open up the somewhat claustrophobic spaces of Gloss Drop as they continuing touring through most of the year.
