Moroccan/Swedish producer RedOne is clearly becoming the producer to go to for artists and labels fishing for a #1 single. Looking for a comeback, Backstreet Boys have hopped on a RedOne creation and the result is called "Straight Through My Heart (Soldier Down)." It's certainly no "Just Dance," but it aims for the same electro-pop receptive ears that have eaten up Lady Gaga so readily. Saying that the music sounds "80s" is the laziest criticism of new electro-tinged pop, but this is the first time that I've heard a track where that seemed truly applicable. If "Straight Through My Heart (Soldier Down)" doesn't sound like it belongs on a Eurobeat show from Spain in 1988, at the very least it would be at home on a NOW! compilation from 1993.
"Straight Through My Heart (Soldier Down)" appears on This Is Us, the Backstreet Boys 7th upcoming album.

Gosh, could this be the last nail required to seal up the coffin of our eighties obsession? I sure hope so. Onward into the future, people! We're going there one way or another.
Actually, they could've done worse. The song is embarrassingly, but undeniably good. Not good for everyone, but definitely good for the clurrbs.
I rather like it!

I love bsb!!!!!!! u r my fav artist!!!!!!!!
This song rocks, people! The lyrics are genius and even a little cryptic. This could be another video linked among hits like The Call and Larger Than Life if they choose to go that direction. A cool would-be-murder scene would be awesome in the video. We'll find out soon! Anyway, I can totally see this song tearing up in the clubs. It's gonna be a hit!
